Background

ACYTE Biotech Pty Ltd is an Australian-based biotech company specializing in proprietary technologies in mammalian cell engineering and cell culture. We aim to reduce bottlenecks in early stage biopharmaceutical development by providing a suite of SuperCHO® technologies to streamline the path from discovery to clinic.

ACYTE Biotech was incorporated to commercialise intellectual property arising from the mammalian cell research group at the University of New South Wales (UNSW) and later the University of Queensland (UQ). ACYTE’s operations have been funded by contracts with major international pharma and biotech companies and support from the Australian Federal Government. ACYTE staff has expertise ranging from molecular biology through to cell culture and protein purification. Through its partnership with the National Biologics Facility (NBF) at UQ, the company has access to extensive facilities for growth of mammalian cells in containment laboratories up to the 50 litre scale and the subsequent purification of proteins produced as well as associated analytical equipment, and has access to the full range of genomics, proteomics, and metabolomics facilities.

ACYTE is run by a Board of Directors representing the shareholders. The current shareholders are The University of Queensland and Uniquest Pty Limited, University of NSW, New South Innovations Pty Ltd and the founders and inventors of the technology held by the company.
