ACYTE Biotech was incorporated to commercialise intellectual
property arising from the mammalian cell research group at the
University of New South Wales. ACYTE’s operations have been
funded by contracts with major international pharma and biotech
companies and support from the Australian Federal Government.
ACYTE staff has expertise ranging from molecular biology through
to cell culture and protein purification. The company has access
to extensive facilities for growth of mammalian cells in
containment laboratories up to the 130 litre scale and the
subsequent purification of proteins produced as well as associated
analytical equipment, and has access to the full range of
genomics, proteomics, and metabolomics facilities.
ACYTE is run by a Board of Directors representing the
shareholders. The current shareholders are the University of
Queensland and Uniquest, University of NSW, New South Innovations
Pty Ltd and the founders and inventors of the technology held by
the company.
